School Council

St Gregory's has a well established School Council. We ensure that pupil voice is a central part of school life. Every September, children in Breakfast Club and children in every KS2 class vote for two pupils to be their representative on the School Council for that academic year.

School Council Trip to Morrisons using Sugar Smart App

04/03/2016

The School Council took a trip to their local supermarket Morrisons, which helped them to gain further knowledge and understanding about the dangers of too much added sugar. Sugar can cause issues such as:

  • Tooth Decay
  • Weight gain
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • Some cancers

The main problem that school council found was how sugar is hiding in our food and drink, and the biggest contributing source to our sugar intake is sugary drinks.

We encourage our pupils and parents at St Gregory's to download the Sugar Smart App and see how every day without realising we are all having too much added sugar. For more advice please visit the official website https://www.nhs.uk/change4life-beta/campaigns/sugar-smart/home
