Today is International Astronomy Day - 05.10.20

International Astronomy Day is a worldwide event  intended to promote greater understanding of the universe as well as the ways in which we can observe it. So here's a few fun facts about astronomy and space!

  • The moon isn't round! Its actually lemon-shaped.
  • There is less sand on Earth than there are stars in the universe.
  • Space is absolutely silent as sound has no way of travelling where there is no atmosphere.
  • The colour of the sunshine from Mars appears blue!
  • If you set foot on the moon, your footprint will be there for the next 100 million years.
  • Uranus is the only planet that rotates on its side.
  • The sun is so big that one million Earths could fit inside it.

Can you find any fun facts about astronomy and space? If so, let me know and I'll add them to our list!
