During the Autumn term, we have been finding out about Ourselves, Autumn and Harvest.
We have started our phonics using Read Write Inc.
Our Mathematics has focused mostly on number.
Reception parents and children also enjoyed a welcome mass in church- photographs are in the RE folder underneath.
During Spring term, we found out about Winter. We discussed what happens during winter, what the weather is like and what clothes we wear. We read 'Jack Frost' and'Stickman'. We used the story sacks for each story to retell the stories.
In our RE, we have found out about 'Celebrations'. We had a 'Welcome back to school' party for the new year. We wrote invitations, made decorations and party hats. We planned what we would do before, during and after the party. Look in the RE page to see the photographs!
We also made lanterns for Chinese New Year and diva pots for Diwali.
During Autumn 2, in RE we found out about Baptism and Advent.
We read the story of 'We're going on a Bear Hunt' . We changed our reading area into a bear cave- complete with a huge bear for the children to read stories to- if they were not too scared!
During Autumn 1 term, our topics were Ourselves and Autumn.
Through our topic of 'Ourselves', we talked about our names, what makes us special, our families and celebrating our differences.
As the weather became more Autumnal, we read the story 'Leaf Man' and used natural objects to create our own pictures.
Reception parents enjoyed coming into school to work with their child on Maths activities.
Activities focused on what Reception children need to know, and, be able to show confidence in by the end of Reception to achieve the Early Learning Goals.
Both parents and children had lots of fun!
